Standing Up Pretty

The puppies are really starting to "get it" with their show dog training.  My picture taking friend forgot to give me Tate's standing photo, but here's a cute one of him "sitting pretty."

Hmmm, it looks like I reduced the size of the pictures too much, and lost resolution.  I will need to go back and resave the pictures. That's time-consuming, but here are a few of the puppies to enjoy in the meantime.

Lauren's sitting pretty.  I'm not sure what happened to her "stacked" picture.  I'll have to go back and look for it. 

Gator's head shot is blurry, but oh so cute!  He is such a sweet boy.

Cedar Shares Her Puppies with Her People

Cedar came to my house to have her puppies, but Sam and Mary Black are really her people.  She was showing off her puppies to them a couple of weeks ago (puppies are 4 weeks old).

"I know my puppies are cute, but don't forget who your #1 dog is"

 

"Have you got some sugar for me?"

 

Tate thinks that Mary's arms are the best place to take a nap.

Show Dog Training Begins

We're practicing stacking...sometimes we get the photo before they move, sometimes we don't.  They have a tendency to arch their backs at this age, so don't get too hung up on toplines.

Long Awaited Update - 5 Weeks Old!

Oops, missed a week.  Sorry about that.  The puppies have moved to the kitchen now, into the puppy pen and they are much more time-consuming to care for.  And oh so sweet.

Here are some of the latest and greatest photos.  This is just a few, I will post more tomorrow.

Spot's philosophy is that all of life's problems can be solved with a nap.

Spot finds a big dog toy.  He's promptly took it over to the puppy pen and let the other puppies pull it into the pen.  What a thoughtful, sharing boy!

It's Piglet! 

Puppies in a box...not for long!

Three weeks old today, walking and playing like crazy, and very  curious about the world outside of their box. 

Put a little food in their bellies and it doesn't take long to feel a nap coming on...

Lauren sleeps peacefully.  Notice how the ticking is really coming out in her coat.  I think she's going to have lots o' spots.

They've got their second wind - time for a puppy free-for-all

Happy Valentine's Day!

The puppies filled my house with love on Valentine's Day!  We hope you had a good Valentine's Day too.

Puppies Playing

They're 2 1/2 weeks old now, and not very steady on their feet yet.  But they are having fun with each other, playing with mom, and seeking out attention from the people in their world.  Enjoy this video of a play session after dinner last night.  (Be patient, this takes a while to load).

Steady now...starting to walk!

Everyone's eyes are open now, and they're all starting to walk.  Some are better than others.  The bigger bellied boys have a disadvantage, because they have much more weight to balance.  Batman is like a little Nascar racer, doing laps around the whelping box after he eats.  Hoss is  kinda competitive and doesn't like to be outdone by Batman, but he just can't keep up with little mister Speed Racer.  The others just aren't in a hurry to join that race. 

They're also starting to play with each other, and with mom.  Check out the picture here of Batman tugging on Cedar's ear. 

It's getting harder to get pictures of them, since they're moving around so much.  I'll see if I can get some video and post it in the next couple of days.

Check out Batman trying to stand.  He looks like he's about to do a face plant, but he really is pretty good at this walking stuff.

Look out Batman, here comes Hoss.  He'll be catching you in no time. 

Come on mom, let's play! 

Piglet sees no need to work off his lunch.  He's quite content just watching the action from the sidelines.

Gator (front) and Lauren were bored with all the action.  Their priority was a nap.

Tate just needs a brother to lay on and he's a happy camper.

After lunch and some exercise, all they really need is a nap to recharge.

(Sorry there are no pictures of Spot today.  He's not a "keep up with the Joneses" kind of guy.  He just tends to stay out of the spotlight, finding a good corner to curl up in.)
